ICC Receiving a "Radical" Mechanics Revamp, For Good or Bad

ICC Receiving a "Radical" Mechanics Revamp, For Good or Bad

The raid format we all know and loathe/love may be gone for good, or gone through a radical transformation. New details are coming to light regarding the “Assault on Icecrown Citadel” raid deck coming out in February 2011. From a leaked post, we have the following information:

ONE “master deck” comes with the raid deck, and the oversized hero is the Lich King. He comes with a 60 card deck. There are THREE more decks that come with the raid, and they have oversized heroes, including “Lady Jaina Proudmoore”, “Highlord Tirion Fordring”, and “Lady Sylvannas”. Each has their own 60 card deck. Details reveal that these three decks are tournament legal, which makes them legal for standard play.

The package also comes with a treasure pack and a rulebook. This is a major break off from what raids have usually been- a raid boss(es), an ability deck, sometimes an event deck, and maybe a minion deck. One asks “wouldn’t it make sense to fight the bosses in ICC in order?” maybe we will, maybe we won’t, but I have a couple of theories.

“Theory 1”
Players will have to fight the bosses in order, and they are the size of normal cards in the deck. They will have similar “boss like proportions” and powers.”

“Theory 2”
The same as above, but fight the bosses in any order.

“Theory 3”
You won’t fight any of the bosses in ICC. If this is true, then they are “not” staying true to the online game.

The good and the ugly? The raid comes with pre-constructed decks, which I bet may have their own rules to deck-building. However, the mechanics of the raid may not stay true to the online game’s ICC, a valid cause for concern. Time will tell.
