Cryptozoic to Branch Into Other Games

In a vague post, Benhameen (a senior employee of Cryptozoic Entertainment) began answering some questions coming from the World of Warcraft TCG community. In one part of his post, he mentioned that Cryptozoic is venturing into other types of games, but would not mention what, where, why, or who. One thing was made clear though: World of Warcraft Miniatures was not being picked up by Cryptozoic Entertainment, as they had stated a year ago. According to Ben. they are

"working on a number of more traditional tabletop games. The WOW TCG will continue to be our premier product and the primary focus of broad support." -Ben

On the note of class starters, Ben said that they did "ridiculously well" at Gencon and Blizzcon, despite me not seeing one in a retail store yet. It's good that CZE is setting out to do what they wanted to do, though. According to Ben:

"we are working on the 2011 Class starters right now, and plan on keeping these as a fresh product every year".

On that note, Ben declared that the card game had a healthy fiscal year and that it would continue. Sounds like opera music to my ears. It looks like CZE is going on a route Wizards of the Coast is taking with Magic the Gathering by releasing starter sets every year. Not a bad idea- in fact it is meeting the industry standard. I always like seeing starter sets at stores for new folks.

It will be interesting to see what CZE has to offer in the future- I may pick it up if it looks interesting!
