Throughout my life one thing has kept me entertained, thrilled and busy; video games. I wane between casual gaming and hardcore gaming, as there is a very gray line between the two. Here are some tips I offer gamers in regards to their gaming habits:
Stage 1 Carpal Tunnel: Tendonitis
Prolonged use of the computer or game consoles is known to cause carpal tunnel. Before you get that, you may have tendonitis. Ahh yes, tendonitis is the bane and curse of computer users, but it is something you can prevent and help, because quite frankly, "flare ups" are annoying and make game playing almost impossible. I find the best way to avoid exacerbating or progressing Tendonitis or Carpal Tunnel is this: 1) Save marathons for the games that are worth it, 2) Take a break 3) Wear a brace. Doing other things with your hands and meeting real life will help to relieve pain in the wrist; the human wrists and hands were NOT made for video game playing.
Actually sleep.
A game is fun, but on a difficult part it may be impossible to complete it due to fatigue. If precision is required, give the game a rest and go to bed. I am not so hardcore that I play games every day for 8 hours (ok maybe 1 or 2), but other functions should be taken care of, such as doing chores, homework or going outside.
Go outside
I always have more than one hobby to explore. Get outside (or in the case of NIPPY winters in Pennsylvania) or go do something else. Those warnings they give you as a precaution actually do help.
