Soul Calibur IV: Great Game

I picked up Soul Calibur IV the other day and I love it. I am new to the current generation of consoles, save the Wii. As an avid old school player, it is pretty neat to see these great graphics, and experience a few of the games that everyone talks about. In the past 5 years a new genre of games have taken me by storm: Fighting Games.

I have been warned about the Tekken series (save a few of their games), and as I watched it I couldn't really get the rhythm for it. A while back when Soul Calibur II came out, I rented it, and knowing nothing about fighting games, I enjoyed it. I have Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny for my PSP and I have been playing it before I got Soul Calibur IV. 4 plays a lot like Broken Destiny, the moves are almost exactly the same and I can get a feel for each of the characters I am good with.

I have heard a lot of people complain about the PS3 controller. Since I am new to the PS3, I looked into the strengths and weaknesses the internet provided me, and honestly the controller size is not an issue for me. I was kind of dissapointed that the dual shock 3 did not come with vibration, but if it saves on battery life- hey I am all for not having it. I don't see a point to the six axis system.

I am happy that the PS3 works with my bluetooth mouse and a wireless keyboard. I havn't really used it for browsing much, and it won't replace my current computers. I don't really play PC games anymore, it's a shame. Back on topic.

Soul Calibur 4 has amazing graphics (I'm sure most new gen games look amazing) and the controls were solid, but I caught myself firing off a move too early, and paying for it! I think the weakest point of 4 is the online lag. Other than this, I don't have too many issues with the game. It's solid, its got a lot more content, and I can't get enough of it. Some of my favorite characters:

Starkiller (The Apprentice)

Nightmare (main)
Kilik

Xianhua (spelling?)

Sigfried

Seung-Mina (spelling?)

Talim (picking up)

some of the characters are not easy to learn, but I have a lot of fun. Props to nightmare, my favorite character and badass villain. 88% for this game- an excellent game with a few picky things here and there. All around, this game will see play for years in my library.
