The Golden Era: the 1990's

I spent most (if not all) of my life growing up in the 1990s. It was truly some of the best times of my life, and it was bliss; it felt like it would never end. Here is some stuff on the 90s, from me and Wikipedia:


Events to Begin the Era:
The fall of the Berlin Wall in Germany (Cold War Ends) in 1989
Invention of the WWW (world wide web) in 1989
Iraqs invasion of Kuwait in 1990 sparking Desert Storm (Gulf War)


Interesting History Markers:
The cloning of the first sheep Dolly is complete.
DNA is now widely used in criminal cases, murders, etc.
Pokemon craze of 1996-1997 sets world ablaze with Poke.
Hale Bopp (comet) swings around the sun for the first time in 4 millenia.
GPS (Global Positioning System) polished and finalized.
Hip Hop Culture rages in popularity in late 1999.
Peak in Christian Rock from 1995 on
Game Systems such as the Sega Genesis popularized Sonic the Hedgehog in the early 90's, Zelda and Mario in the early 90's from the Super Nintendo, and a huge assortment of characters from the Nintendo 64 in the late 90's.
Thongs become popular in America in the late 90's.
Body piercings in unusual places popular in America in the late 90's.
Seinfeld is HUGELY popular from 1989 to 1998. It still runs on TV today in 2006.
Power Rangers become widely popular in the early to mid 90's in America for youngsters.
Anime FINALLY becomes hugely popular in the mid to late 90's.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Captain Planet remain popular up to the mid 90's from the mid to late 80's.
Disney Blossoms with productions such as Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid.
Ren and Stimpy, and the Simpsons become mainstream.
3d Graphics become mainstream in the mid to late 90's.
Doom bursts into huge popularity in 1993.
The Legend of Zelda is considered the 3rd greatest game of all time, surging in 1993-1995.
The Sony Playstation takes the world by storm, and revolutionizes gaming from carts to discs in the mid to late 90's.
Arcade Games such as Pac-Man decrease in popularity.
Chucky Cheeses (damn good pizza!) surge in popularity from the early to mid 90's.

Tragic Events:
John F. Kennedy Jr crashes his plane off the coast of Martha's Vineyard, and dies.
Famous Latino singer Salene is murdered by the leader of her fanclub.
Princess Diana is killed in a car accident due to Papparazi.
The 1993 Bombing of the World Trade Centers by Al Qaeda. Both towers stood.
Timothy McVeigh blows up an Oklahoma City building, killing about 160. In early 2000's, he is put to death by the death penalty.
The 1996 Massacre at Columbine High School distresses the nation. A girl asked if she believed in God, said yes. She was brutally shot and murdered.
In the late 1990's Ellion Gonzalez escapes from Cuba on a raft with his dead mother to Florida. Later, SWAT raids the relatives home and sends him back to Cuba, upon request from his father.
The September 11th Terrorist Attacks officially end the innocence of the 1990s. Political Scandal, broken hearts, and accusations of war fly all over the place. Critiscism is finally put heavy on the government. America has still not gotten over the attacks, it is now late 2006.
