I've watched around 7 episodes of the anime and so far I have enjoyed it. The show takes a look at college students who form a club which combine cosplay, anime, manga and games together. As a small club on the chopping block, they mainly use their room to play video games and watch anime- but the clubs official statement is to study anime as a sub-culture.
The wickedly awesome part about the show is that it is a lot like real life- you can relate to the characters and you can definitely tell that the creator has talked to people in the real world to get feedback on what these clubs are really like. Otaku really are different in the sphere of the sub-culture; while many are not in a relationship, there is one member of Genshiken that has a girlfriend, and soon she joins.... It was also interesting to watch the struggles of the club as a whole- the university wanted to shut them down because the clubs were idle.
