More on Borderlands- Crawmerax
I think in a previous post I discussed the game Borderlands. Now I would like to discuss the current end game as of DLC 3- Crawmerax the Invincible.
"Crawmerax", or Crawdaddy as I like to call him, is a giant crab like monster that is the "secret final boss" of the DLC "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx". It will take four players to legitimately down him (though some people have defeated him single handed with a siren). Crawmerax is tough as nails- one hit from him or his little buddies will drop your shield to 0, and another hit will likely drop you into a bleeding state.
The most annoying companions (minions) to Crawdaddy are the Craw maggots. These snake/worm like creatures move quickly, and will down you fast. They seem invincible, but caustic/shock/explosive weaponry works well on them. The other two minions, armored craw worms and green craw worms can be easily dispatched with caustic weaponry and incendiary weapons, respectively.
Crawmerax drops the best loot ever seen on Pandora. I took some statistics so I could share them with my buddies and the rest of the world. Pearlescent weapons are the rarest level of weapons in the game- and they can only drop off of lance soldiers (particularly badasses), crawmerax, and they may pop out of crimson lance chests in the world and the Crimson Armory. Here are the statistics, and the juice of this article:
Chance of getting, per item Crawmerax drops:
Pearlescent: .06%
Orange: 6.54%
Purple: 52.68%
Blue: 24.53%
Green: 14.69%
White: 0.62%
The sample size was 1,606 items through 27 runs of Crawmerax's Lair. The chance of a Pearlescent: 1 in 27 runs; 1 in 1600 items. I will continue this data until I pick up a few pearlescents.
There is a terrain glitch you can use to glitch crawmerax. It is located on a ledge to the far west of the map. Exiting the elevator, face NW and head straight for it.
