Unrelated photo- the final Tomcat taking off in 2006 for a final flight and landing. The F-14 Tomcat was replaced by the F-18 Superhornet in 2006.Well time has been spent deliberating on this thing and it looks like that Boeing wants 4 months to design another tanker. A few months ago the Air Force awarded the contract to Northrop Grumman and EADS to replace the aging KC-135 tanker. Northrop Grumman presented a ready to go design, however the GAO (Governmental Accountability Office) agreed with Boeing that there were flaws in the selection process. Maybe we should have just went with the original plan and our boys and girls would have their tankers sooner? What's your opinion?
