Sony has requested help from the FBI [United States Federal Bureau of Investigation] in tracking down the perpetrators of the attack. LulzSec responded by stating "don't blame us", and although not stated verbatim, "We are attacking Sony to prove a point and deliver a message."
Lulzsec has a valid point, citing what many security experts also say is a poor framework for network security. Simple rogue commands were used to exploit the Sony network and steal UNENCRYPTED information. Sony does not seem to be publicly acknowledging that their networks are unsafe. I am sure the shareholders don't want to hear that information, either.
Sony stated that the attacks will not happen again, and that they are strengthening their network. Although Lulzsec said they are preparing for another round of attacks, it sounded like a threat against the FBI. Far from their mission goal, I doubt Lulzsec will hit the FBI, and instead opt to continually embarrass Sony.
