1/100 MG Wing Gundam Updates 4/18
I didn't take any pictures, but the blue paint issue has been fixed. I heard a rumor that isopropyl alcohol works as an excellent thinner for acrylic paints. I mixed some in with tamiya's x-4 blue, and brought out the stunt double (a bulldog tank). The paint applied really well to the parts, so I went ahead and gave it a shot on Wing Gundam's parts- and the paint came out nicely. There is still an (ever so slight) color difference, but you need to stare at the parts for a minute or two to see it (again, ever so slightly).
The white armor parts all need to go into washing, then priming. There are so many of these little b-tards that I will have to finish painting them in waves. No idea how many of them there are in total, but I will find out. Must be less than 50, but no more than 30.
I found an issue with the inner frame that I want to fix. Near the bottom of the leg joint there is a peg coming out. This peg assists with the bird mode transformation and will move in and out depending on how the leg is positioned. This may be my fault, but I am having issues with one leg being longer than the other due to this discrepancy (yes, I spent time finding out what made one leg longer) but I have largely fixed the issue. If it becomes a problem after final assembly, I will go back in with superglue to fix it.
Working on the white parts, the side head pieces had some nasty gate marks left over. They were removed to the best of my ability, and I had to use putty to fill in small indents (unnatural ones to the kit), and now everything is peachy keen. Once all white parts are complete, that is the majority of this guy's armor.
White and yellow are difficult to paint, but I have my stunt double to fill in for testing. Who knew a tank model with missing pieces would come in handy. I've done some filming for Sprue World, so hopefully once I get enough material we can squeeze in a final episode or two. I definitely want to talk about this kit when it is all done.
