1/900 USS Missouri

A tragedy occurred last October. I still feel a little gut-wrenched about it.

We had a 700 mile move, and my models were packed badly. As a result, I lost my 1/350 USS New Jersey, 1/350 USS Missouri, and a 1/35 s.d.k.f.z. (I can live with the 1/35). The moving company agreed to allot me damages, and they also want to take the ships to be repaired. I told them that no store exists for such a thing, and that it is difficult to find someone who is able and willing to repair models.

Apparently, someone outside of Chicago is able to do both. If I had the parts, I would be able to restore both ships, but I don't have the parts. I also don't have the time to attempt home made parts, but an experienced model builder can knock that out no problem. I appreciate the courtesy of the movers, but eh.... let me do it. I won't complain, its FREE.

Back on topic. In a blind rush, my dad knocked these two models off of Ebay, thinking the larger number was better. I got a Lindberg 1/900 USS New Jersey and Missouri. Both are OK, but this is not for those who want to photo etch their models. They are only 40 some pieces, and a lot of the superstructure detail has already been molded. Not going to complain there.

From the reparation money, I just need some paint, cement and snippers and I can have these models done by the end of spring break, easily. Unfortunately, they are full hull, and I don't feel like grinding them down to the waterline for a waterline diorama. Alas, I'll see what I can do with them...
