I've caught model ship fever, and I have added yet another project to the roster: The BB-62 USS Missouri, which on its deck ended World War II between Japan and the United States. You can find the USS Missouri today towed in Pearl Harbor, right behind the USS Arizona Memorial.
This is an older kit, but I saw it for $38.99 USD and it was such a steal that I had to pick it up. I opened the kit, and I am extremely impressed with the detail. The hull is in two pieces: horizontal this time so I can remove the pre-painted red (Ill be painting it mica-red because the mold red is too different from my BB-62) piece and paint the waterline with a lot more ease. I got a tip from ModelWarships.com that if I painted it the red I wanted, clear coated that, then mask the red job, gloss coat again and paint my black waterline, that would virtually stop seepage under the tape. I am gonna give it a shot since I don't have a whole lot of expertise yet with an airbrush. The only thing I did not spot with the BB-63 were decals =(. Otherwise, impressive model. Ill get right to work on it along with my 1/426 USS Arizona and 1/350 BB-62 USS New Jersey.
