A Nice Gift I Received

This is a nice gift I received from a very good friend of mine who is also a Japanime fan. To me, these symbolize our everlasting friendship and these Swords receive the highest honor in my [future] collection. What I like about them is, they are decorative pieces, and are not meant for actual cutting, thus the 440 Stainless Steel, which does NOT require cleaning. I think the swords absoloutly ROCK, and I wanted to post a picture of them so the gift giver knows what I have done with them.

In the Batter's Box: 1/100 HG Legend Gundam PAINT

Paint Pictures. The one with the trees I painted first, the paint is coming along well and I placed another layer of Saran Wrap over it to protect the paint (16 hours after it dried, der.) The paint is coming along well and I would say 1 or 2 more coats should do (occasional missed spot yet to paint)

Same picture, at an angle. I am always careful while painting, and instead of killing us off by breathing in paint fumes, I spray "on" the bench with paper towels underneath the wrap, and cardboard underneath that. I use Saran Wrap, because as I have found with previous disaster models, if you paint a piece on a napkin or towel, the towel in question will stick to the part, making the texture uneven and the said particle a pain in the ARSE to get rid of. Saran Wrap usually will not peel off any new paint. If it does, it does not harm the texture, and I can just respray. I expect all of the white will take an entire can of Tamiya. I then take the cardboard out to the back shed where wooden palletes lay, and I let them dry for a two hours or so, then place saran wrap over the parts to prevent extra dust from touching them.

Some more of similar pieces, except what I did, was disconnect the pieces by color by creating new trees, then painting them their seperate colors. I was not happy with the grey, so I am painting the Gundam 90% white. The black was a previous darker grey I was not happy about. I enhanced the Red with more of a kandy effect, its a more down to earth "fiesta" red. I then selected a duller blue to get rid of the off the assembly line glow. I will, of course at the conclusion of the model, post the paints I used and their serial numbers if you liked my work. Till then!

In the Batter's Box: 1/100 HG Legend Gundam

I popped into a local Hobby Store and saw a selection of their Gundams. I picked up this one and some corresponding paint, and off I went. I brought it home, and it looks like this one will not be a difficult build, but it will take time. The armor came in a little lighter than the default "grey" of most generic models, I was not happy with it so I am going to paint it white. The white has not settled within 1 or 2 coats so I will be applying more. As I have been doing so, the texture is much much better and I like the parts white. Expect more updates as time moves on. I have gotten hooked "again" to Gundam Models. I am not a fan of the Gundam Seed series (Seeing the original Japanese warrants a mention though. I think the dub is terrible, maybe the original isn't, since its not orchestrated by Bandai [I don't think. Correct me if wrong.])

More Nintendo Wii Information

Photo taken from Official Website: http://wii.nintendo.com/home.html

The more I look at this thing, the more I believe that Nintendo will reinvent video gaming forever with its brand new Nintendo Wii (and its funky controller system). If you take your average DVD case, and stack 3 on top of each other (yeah thats right) you have a Nintendo DS. I honestly cannot believe how Nintendo manages to get these things smaller every year. According to Kotaku.com, Nintendo will announce the shipment of Wiis around September. There is a ton of speculation going around about this, especially in the department that the Wii is being sold "at a loss" and will be much cheaper than anticipated. If you are like me and don't want to look into speculation, the shipping will be announced around September. Here are a few of the launch titles:

Wii Sports (Assortment of)
Disaster: Day of Crisis
Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
Super Mario Galaxy
Excite Truck
Warioware: Smooth Moves
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess (Next post will be more on this)

WOAH strong lineup there. A Mario/Wario Game, Metroid, and a ZELDA game? That is almost too good to pass up now. Looks like a nice, strong lineup for Nintendo. The question is, how affordable are the games? Giants like the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games cost about $60 USD, but what about the Wii? As we get closer to the launch date, we will find out more information.
