If you have a PSN account, this information is vital for you to read.
The recent attacks on the PSN were confirmed to be cybercrime related, and not random Ddos from Anonymous. Hackers infiltrated PSN, shut it down, and stole 80 million sets of:
Your Name
Your Address
Your Credit Card Number
The onus is on Sony here, and shame on them for their poor network protection, but the point of this post is to inform YOU of what you need to do to stay protected.
Reset all important passwords
Reset all passwords to your bank account, sites such as Facebook, online MMOs, and anything that can be used to make a credit card payment from your bank account. Secure your bank account. You should dilligently watch your bank account anyways, so make sure money isn't being fraudually spent.
If you find funds being spent with the intent of fraud, contact your bank immediately so that they can shut off that avenue.
Rotation
I use a 6 month rotation on all passwords to protect myself from crap exactly like this. It is a tiered system, and I automatically begin going in and resetting all the passwords when an attack like this happens. My PSN credit card on file was out of date, but still, I am nervous and cautious about the attack.
