So I finally got the motivation to complete some work on the hind. I already masked it up for cockpit painting, and figured I would give an acrylic a try tonight. It worked well- but one coat isn't enough. When I normally do 1-2 coats for enamels, acrylics may take 3+. They smell less, and most importantly- they are easy to clean up. Even more importantly, I can spray them in my shop and not worry about the entire house exploding (acrylic liquid is not a flammable object).
After enough coats have covered the exhaust and the cockpit, it will be time to weather the cockpit interior, paint the belts and any other instruments that might be visible. After that:
-Paint canopy (enamel)
-Body base coat (acrylic)
layers
enamel camo (enamel on acrylic, but no acrylic on enamel!)
-Mask and paint underbelly
-Wheels and Zuni's
-Blades, gears and rotors
