The Gunmetal DIlemma

I wouldn't call it a disaster because there are usually alternatives for everything. The gunmetal I am using to finish Deathscythe is "spackling" all over the parts, and it looks like clumps of hard, dry paint are landing on the parts.

I already deduced that this is not buildup at the nozzle, and when I thinned the paint, the problem seemed to go away a little. Despite this, the damn paint was still spackling. The airbrush is clean, and I had had enough fiddling with the paint.

I went out to Hobbytown, but they did not have an enamel gunmetal. Instead I found an assortment of colors similar to gunmetal, but I didn't want to take that route. I found an acrylic- and I am hoping it is the same color as the enamel.

The only problem is that there is enamel primer and paint on the wing parts. You cannot paint acrylic over an enamel. The solution? I just primered over the wings about five minutes ago. I will let them dry then get to work with this acrylic gunmetal later tonight.
